Late Pass: Fringe

Personal Note: After the whole Birthday fiasco, I had trouble chewing. The bottle struck me in the temple causing it to strain. Now I can chew happily, but I still hurt when I sneeze or yawn.

I remember when this show first came out, I didn't really care for it. I was already watching other shows at the moment,  and Fringe didn't really stand out to me. Boy was I wrong. If you're not familiar with the show, here's what Wikipedia says:

Fringe is an American science fiction television series created by J. J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. The series follows a Federal Bureau of Investigation "Fringe Division" team based in Boston, Massachusetts under the supervision of Homeland Security. The team uses unorthodox "fringe" science and FBI investigative techniques to investigate a series of unexplained, often ghastly occurrences, which are related to mysteries surrounding a parallel universe. The show has been described as a hybrid of The X-Files, Altered States, The Twilight Zone and Dark Angel.
Funny thing is a lot of the science makes sense, well at least to me the non-science guy. Like in one episode, there was this frankenstein animal made up of a tiger, python, wasp, and a bat. The reason for using a bat was because of its unique immune system. It could carry dozens of known diseases, and not be affected. So it could stand the rejection of merging different species together. I was okay with that explanation.

Of course, I'm only on the first season, and it's currently running on its third season. I hope to catch up, eventually.

  9. I really really want to get into this show, I just haven't had the time. I am still trying to watch all the X-Files episodes as it is. At least Netflix is there for me.

  10. yeah, yeah! i copped a late pass for Fringe, too. i think i had one of the same reasons as you for not watching it in the beginning: i was already watching other stuff. i was thinking, 'JJ Abrams? But I'm already watching Lost.' so i just recently started watching Fringe...trying to catch up and get current. take care of that jaw, b!
